Bárbara González Segovia (she/they) is a BIPOC, queer, feminist social activist who has spent around 10 years working alongside Indigenous communities. She is passionate about amplifying people's voices from anti-racist and anti-oppressive lenses, both in her professional and personal life. She values kindness and vulnerability, and is fully committed to infuse the world with joy.
Prior to joining Awana Digital, she lived and worked with Kofan, Waorani, Siona, and Siekopai women while coordinating the Women's Program at Alianza Ceibo / Amazon Frontlines. Driven by her passion for community organizing, she has focused on strengthening governance by facilitating organizational development, planning, and skill-building among women and community leaders. In her current role, Bárbara continues to collaborate with Indigenous leaders worldwide, with recent initiates emphasizing support for women environmental warriors in the Brazilian Savannah and the Amazon.
Bárbara was born in Venezuela, lived in the Ecuadorian Amazon forest for many years, and is now based in Treaty 1, Canada.
